BEATLES – Day By Day – 9/15/61

Friday, 15th September, 1961

The Beatles played three gigs today, opening with their regular lunch time spot at The Cavern.

In the evening they headed across the Mersey to the Wirral peninsula to play at the Groverner Ballroom in Liscard, a venue they had not played since February. This was followed by an engagement back in Liverpool at a dance being held at the Village Hall, a mock-Tudor building on East Prescott Road in the Knotty Ash area of town. This dance was being promoted by Mona Best, so having “her son’s band” play was pretty much a given.
