Restoring Woolton’s Stage

The 24 Hour Museum website reports that museum staff in Liverpool reconstructing the iconic church hall stage where John Lennon met Paul McCartney in 1957 are appealing for people who remember its original appearance to help in its reconstruction. The stage from St Peter’s Church Hall, Woolton, Liverpool, was the platform upon which John Lennon’s Quarrymen skiffle group performed on that fatefull 6th July 1957.

Having written extensively about that day in Before They Were Beatles, and having corresponded with some of the people who shared the stage that day with John, its sad to see such a landmark in pieces. Lets hope that this piece of Beatles history can be restored to its original condition before too long.
