New Book Tells Of Hamburg Days
Â
Horst Facher, manager of Hamburg’s Star Club, where The Beatles played during 1962, has published his memoirs under the title “Let The Good Times Roll.”
Â
Facher was a champion boxer until he killed a man in a street fight. After serving his prison sentence he threw himself into the emerging music clubs of the early sixties. The Star Club became the top attraction for visiting Rock ‘n’ Roll acts from the UK and the US attracting not only The Beatles but many other household names such as Ray Charles, Little Richard, Fats Domino etc.
Â
Facher’s book arrives at the time when Hamburg has decided to celebrate it’s own part in the development of rock as construction on the new “Beatles Platz”" starts later this month.
