BEATLES – Day By Day – 4/2/62

Monday, 2nd April, 1962

The Beatles played a lunch time gig at The Cavern before moving on to play their one and only appearence at the somewhat notorious Pavilion Theater on Lodge Lane in Liverpool. The “Pivvy” had long been known as Liverpool’s top striptease theater, although it was also used for variety shows and talent contests. (Although this would be The Beatles only appearence, The Quarry Men had played there some years earlier). This evening’s bill was organised by promoter Jim Gretty who arranged for the Royal Waterford Show Band to be flown over from Ireland to share the bill with the local boys.
