“A Day In The Life” lyric sheet up for auction.

The San Francisco office of auctioneers Bonhams & Butterfields is currently displaying the original hand-written lyrics for the Beatles classic “A Day In The Life.”

Originally penned by John Lennon on January 17th, 1967 with a black felt market pen on a scarp of paper, it was later revised and added to by Paul McCartney on the same piece of paper. Original Beatles lyrics were often written on whatever scrap of paper was handy at the time and often discarded, making them rare finds. It is expected that this particular manuscript will fetch around $2 million dollars. It is on display in San Francisco until Sunday (February 12th) from where it will go to Los Angeles and new York for viewing prior to the sale.
