VIDEO – NME Poll Winners Concert – 1965
This week’s clip shows the boys in action at the 1964-1965 edition of the New Musical Express (a British weekly music paper) Poll Winner’s Award show. This was their second appearence at this annual event held at the Empire Pool, Wembley in London.
The audience of 10,000 heard them perform “I Feel Fine,” “She’s A Woman,” “Baby’s In Black,” “Long Tall Sally” and “Ticket To Ride,” which you can see in the clip below.
The Beatles were presented with their poll awards by singer Tony Bennett.
The show took place on the afternoon of Sunday 11th April 1965 and was aired on British TV in two ABC Televison specials under the title of “Poll Winners Concert.” The Beatles appearence was seen in the first show transmitted on Easter Sunday, April 18th at 3.15pm. Â
