The Power of the Fab Four

A funny thing happened at the movies over the weekend. Like a few million other people we went to see Spider-Man 3 (and if you are interested you can find my review here), and in the run up to the movie we sat through the usual round of trailers for upcoming attractions.

Now most people ignore trailers and take little notice of them, the conversations tend to float around the cinemas as people settle in for the main feature. I’ve never seen a trailer grab a theater audience with just a few words – until this weekend.

When the trailer for the new musical “Across The Universe” started, the whole theater went instantly quiet. No one said a word throughout its brief on screen time. The reason everyone was captivated – the haunting use of the Lennon & McCartney songs on its sound track.

It only took two bars of “Girl” to capture the unsuspecting audience.

If you haven’t yet seen the trailer – it can be found here.
