BEATLES – Day By Day – 2/24/62
Saturday, 24th February, 1962
The Beatles play a night time gig at another new venue booked by Brian Epstein, the YMCA on Birhkenhead Road in Hoylake on the Wirral peninsula across the Mersey from Liverpool. The YMCA club organizer, a Charles Tranter, had been eager to book the Beatles since early in September 1961 and had at last managed to secure their services for the evening. Unfortunately his patrons didn’t share his enthusiasm and soon get irritated by what seemd to be over-long introductions between songs and booed the group off stage.
Following this debacle The Beatles headed back across the Mersey to Liverpool and arrived at The Cavern past midnight to take part in one of the club’s all night sessions along with three other groups.
