BEATLES – Day By Day – 12/8/61

The Beatles once again appeared with American soul singer Davy Jones, this time at two separate venues and for two different promoters. At lunch time Jones appeared at The Cavern for owner Ray McFall and where he was backed by The Beatles (photo below) who also performed their own set.
In the evening both Jones and The Beatles were included as part of a seven act bill at The Tower Ballroom in New Brighton for Sam Leach. Jones was in fact the headline star of the Tower Ballroom show and was once more backed by The Beatles.
Meanwhile Brian Epstein writes to Ron White, from the EMI sales department, to try and get the Beatles an EMI record contract. Brian has already sent him a copy of ‘My Bonnie’ having meet with representatives from the London office of Deutsche Grammophone earlier in the month to ask if they would agree to a UK release of the German recording.
