BEATLES – Day By Day – 11/9/61

Perhaps one of the most significant days in Beatles history as their lunch time perfomance at The Cavern was witnessed by local record store owner Brian Epstein and his assistant Alistair Taylor. The four musicians were unaware the 27 year old businessman was in the club until his presence was announced by DJ Bob Wooler. After the show the dapper Epstein introduced himself to the four leather clad rockers. In an interview several years later he recalled his first impressions “They were fresh and they were honest, and they had… star quality. Whatever that is, they had it, or I sensed that they had it.”
Totally unaware of what had been set in motion by that seemingly inconsequential meeting The Beatles traveled on to the Town Hall in Litherland for a night time gig. As it turned out this would be their final gig in the run down ballroom that had become a regular venue for them over the previous 12 months.
