BEATLES – Day By Day – 10/19/61

Thursday, 19th October, 1961

Today saw the one and only appearence of “The Beatmakers” an impromtu combination of The Beatles and Gerry & The Pacemakers who were sharing a bill at the Litherland Town Hall. Part way through the evening it was suggested that the two groups combine – which is exactly what they did. The resultant line up was George on lead guitar, Paul on rythmn, Pete shared his drums with the Pacemaker’s Freddy Marsden. Fellow Pacemaker Les Maguire played sax with bandmate Les Chadwick on bass. John played the piano while singer Gerry Marsden took over on lead vocals. Also added to the line up was Karl Terry on backing vocals. Terry was the leader of Karl Terry & The Cruisers who were also on the evening’s bill.
