Rare Beatles Photos Go Under The Hammer
According to a report in the Liverpool Echo, BEATLE photographs never seen before went under the hammer last week. In one shot John Lennon sports a top hat and a huge curly stick-on moustache while Paul McCartney is in a flat cap and wide red braces. George Harrison wears a knitted shawl and a spotted head-scarf while Ringo is in the background with his arms outstretched and hands on his pal’s shoulders.
A spokesman for the auction said: “Who knows what The Beatles were really up to in this previously unseen photograph – we’ll never know.†It is one of a group of eight transparencies featuring the Fab Four found among a cache of 1,400 images covering subjects from the late 19th century to the Swinging Sixties. The prints and negatives represent the remaining stock of the now defunct Collectors’ Photographs Ltd.
All were sold by Surrey fine art auctioneers Ewbank on September 20.
