Hi there - thanks for reading the blog and the kind comments. In fact I was one of the people that signed the on-line petition plus mantioned it on my personal Live Journal blog when I first heard about it. Glad to hear that it produced some sort of "result," even if it wasn't an ideal one. I had the privilige of meeting Pete a couple of years ago and am looking forward to the opportunity to shake his hand again at the upcoming Beatlefest in Chicago.

You can find an 'up to the minute' list of shows for personal appearances for Pete Best and shows for the Pete Best Band at www.bestyearsofthebeatles.com. This website was created as an offshoot of the recent petition to have Pete Best acknowledged as the drummer for the Beatles during the Hamburg Days. A proposed tribute to the Beatles in Hamburg (supposedly to be unveiled in the near future) just 'happened' to make an attempt to rewrite history. The hundreds of people from all over the world who supported the mission statement of the Beatles Hamburg Statue petition that Pete Best WAS a Beatle and should be acknowledged...thought differently. We 'won'....whatever that means....the creators of the tribute statue are going to put up a plaque with an obscure acknowledgement of Pete. I would not have accepted that token acknowledgement, but, I didn't have the support to pursue other avenues. I will always know we did the best we could have and that plaque shows that you just can't 'settle for'....you have to 'fight for' your place in history. Looking forward to seeing you on the website. Thanks for all you are doing. Cheers!
