1000th Post

If my calulations are right, the last post was the 1000th post on Blog, Blog Me Do.

As we hit that milestone, I just wanted to take time out to thank everyone from all around the world who read the blog, and extend a special thanks to those who take the time to comment or send me emails.

So far we’ve had around 40,000 visitors to the site from 103 different countries.

There’s a lot more to come, so stick around for the next 1000 Fab posts.

New Beatles Movies website goes online

Â Bob Neaverson, author of The Beatles Movies (Cassell, 1997) and co-author (with former Apple Film boss Denis O’Dell) of At the Apple’s Core, has just launched a Beatles Movie website, www.beatlesmovies.co.uk.The site is dedicated to celebrating the importance of the group’s five forays into film, and includes a re-vamped version of his first book, the highly acclaimed The Beatles Movies, a critical history of the band’s films, which includes interviews with such key movie personnel as former Apple boss Denis O’Dell, film director Richard Lester, and the group’s favourite actor, Victor Spinetti.

Regular readers of Blog Me Do will have noticed that for the last few weeks I’ve not been posting any new Beatles news or odd Beatles items that have caught my eye. This has been mainly down to dealing with my youngest daughter being in and out of hospital over the last few weeks combined with an end of February graphic novel script deadline.

Â Now the script is done, and hopefully the doctors visits will be less, so I should have time to get back to keeping up with the latest Fab Four happenings.

Our good friend, and fellow Beatle comics collector, Fabio from Italy has launched Beatlestube.net, a YouTube style site devoted entirely to The Fab Four.

Here’s how he describes the site: the site that tries to organize all Beatles Video that you can find on the web. There are plenty of Beatles clips on Youtubeâ„¢ and Google Videoâ„¢ but it’s difficult to have them in a logical sequence. Beatlestube.net will help you to do that.Â Plus you have all the lyrics near the clips.

It’s a great site compiled by a true Beatles aficionado – click on over and enjoy.

New Beatles Footage Uncovered

According to a report by NME,Â never-before-seen footage of The Beatles filmed by the Fab Four’s former roadie Mal Evans (below) and hidden for decades in an attic wasÂ released on August 1 to the MBop website where the reformatted and restored clips are now available for download.

The clips include secret concert footage as well as revealing private conversations and personal exchanges within the band. The historic footage includes live concert performances, also the Fab Four chatting as the travel down the River Thames on a boat, and the band riding down London’s Park Lane in a car with their friends and rivals The Beach Boys.

A preview clip of the footage is availabe on the NME’s Beatles page.

Beatles.com Celebrates Pepper Anniversary

While the two remaining Beatles may not be publicly celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the release of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the official Beatles’ website has not let this weekend’s milestone go unnoticed.

Over at Beatles.com they have launched a new mini-site marking the release of the groundbreaking album. The site, which can be launched HERE, includes video, photographs and music related to the production of Sgt. Pepper.

“Beatles Across America” Available For Download (except in USA)

Uncut reports that an archive Beatles ITN news documentary from 1966 has been made available for video download through digital company Wippit.Â The 23 minute documentary was only ever aired once in the UK and featured the Beatles’ controversial tour of the US in 1966, which followed the interview that John Lennon gave claiming that the group were ‘more popular than Jesus Christ.‘ The programme shows Lennon defending himself for the comments he had made five months earlier and making something of an apology.

ITNâ€™s head of music partnerships Ross Landau said: â€œThe Beatles across America is one of ITNâ€™s oldest documentaries filmed for the Roving Report strand. It was only aired once and captures the band at the pinnacle and most controversial period of their career in the USAâ€.

The Beatles Across America is available for video download in all territories except North America for Â£4.99 from Wippit here.
