The Beatles played two shows at the ABC Cinema in the Ardwick area of Manchester.

A Pathe News crew filmed several back stage sequences along with performances of She Loves You and Twist and Shout for a newsreel segment entitled “The Beatles Come To Town.”

A local Granada TV crew was also on hand shooting the same back-stage footage as the Pathe team and adding in an interview segment.

Not to be outdone, BBC Radio were also on hand to record an interview with the group for that evening’s Voice of the North, as well as an interview with George for a show titled Wacker, Mach Schau that examined the relationship between the Liverpool and Hamburg rock scenes.

The Beatles only appearance in Eire. They fly in to Dublin airport where they are interviewed by RTE, the Irish television network for the In Town TV show.

In the evening they perform a show at the Adelphi Cinema in Dublin.

Traveling with The Beatles is screenwriter Alun Owen, who is observing the group prior to writing the script for their first feature film.

The Beatles spend the day in Weston-super-Mare with photographer Dezo Hoffman, who takes photos and 8mm movies of The Beatles at their hotel, on the beach dressed in Victorian bathing suits, and go-karting.

In the evening The Beatles perform the last of their six consecutive nights at the town’s Odeon Cinema.

In 2007, Levitan collaborated with director Josh Raskin, illustrator James Braithwaite, and animator Alex Kurina to produce I Met the Walrus, a short animated film featuring a condensed version of the Lennon-Levitan interview set to sprawling stream-of-consciousness animation. The resulting film has won an AFI Award and was nominated for an Academy Award.

According to the Festival’s press release this year’s list of Animated Shorts includes I MET THE WALRUS by Canadian Director Josh Raskin. In 1969, a 14-year-old Beatle fanatic named Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape deck, snuck into John Lennon’s hotel room in Toronto and convinced John to do an interview about peace. Using the original interview as the soundtrack, this narrative tenderly romances Lennon’s every word in a cascading flood of multi-pronged animation.

Beatles fans may not know, however, that some four years later, Astrid, accompanied by photojournalist Max Schele, visited John, Paul, George, and Ringo in London during the making of A Hard Day’s Night. The rarely seen photographs taken that period are now available in a new book, Yesterday: The Beatles Once Upon a Time.

Astrid’s close friendship allowed for unrivaled access and led to a unique collection of photographs which focus on the Beatles in private as well as public moments. The images present rare, unguarded moments that give us a unique opportunity to see The Beatles as they really were, not as they were presented to us by the media and by their promoters.

Yesterday: The Beatles Once Upon a Time  also documents the Liverpool of 1964, and the music scene of Liverpool energized by the success of the Beatles, capturing the rhythm and texture of the seaport city where the strains of pop music history were transformed by the Mersey Beat and the greatest band of all time.

Friday, November 2 through Sunday, November 11: Apple Corps Ltd.’s Help! radio special, hosted by Michael Palin with insights from the film’s director Richard Lester and other Help! principals, to air on more than 200 radio stations across the U.S.

Monday, November 5: Yahoo! Music exclusively premieres The Beatles’ full-length performance of I Need You from the film. Clear Channel Online presents Apple Corps Ltd.’s Help! radio special on more than 400 locally branded Clear Channel Radio Network station websites.

Tuesday, November 6: Help! is released in standard 2-DVD and deluxe 2-DVD boxed set packages.

Monday, November 12: QVC will offer the Help! DVD (QVC Item #F04485) during the “Great Gifts” show at 11 PM (ET)/8 PM (PT).

Thanksgiving weekend: select public television stations across the U.S. begin airing ‘Help!’(airdates vary through December, check local listings).
