Personally, I find Las Vegas, a city built on a foundation of reckless capitalism, felony and greed, to be a curious location for a festival celebrating a group of artists who once represented the exact opposite valuesÂ

Music Week, the UKâ€™s leading music industry trade magazine, is celebrating Paul McCartney being honoured with the Brits outstanding contribution award next week with an in-depth feature about the global music icon, including an exclusive new interview.

To celebrate this incredible achievement Music Week has published a special tribute issue, with 16 pages dedicated to the life and work of Paul McCartney. Paul Honored at Q-Awards

The Associated Press reports that Paul McCartney was among the honorees Monday at the Q Music Awards in London. (photo below)

According to the report Paul paid tribute to his late wife, Linda, as he was awarded the title of “Q Icon” at the annual ceremony. He also thanked his children and his former bandmates in The Beatles. “I thank Linda for seeing me through some real tough periods,” McCartney said, “I’ve been doing this since I was just a little bairn and it’s still the same for me now — still the same magic, still the same emotion, still the same thrill.”

John & Yoko – Top Rock Couple

Beatles legend John Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono have topped a poll of rock couples conducted by Rolling StoneÂ magazine.

Lennon and his avant-garde artist wife were followed by country music couple Johnny Cash and June Carter, at the second spot.

Sir Paul McCartney and his late wife Linda McCartney rounded-off the top five, at the fifth spot.

The BBC reports that Sir Paul McCartney has been named “Man Of The Year” by the British edition of GQ Magazine.

Sir Paul was honoured for his latest album and his successful US tour.

“Paul McCartney is not only one of our greatest living legends, he’s also probably the most dignified,” said GQ editor Dylan Jones.

Paul was unable to collect the award in person, but Mr Jones said that Sir Paul had been “embraced” by the public during his troubled time – and pointed out he had still achieved a great amount this year.

“Paul McCartney turned 64, produced one of his best albums in years, orchestrated the 90-minute Las Vegas Beatles spectacular, Love, finished a record-breaking tour of America, and this month releases his fourth full-length classical work, Behold My Heart,” he said. “Plus, this year he has been embraced by the Great British public like no time before.”
