The current issue of HARP magazine has an somewhat irreverant look at last year’s Fest For Beatles Fans held in Las Vegas.

Personally, I find Las Vegas, a city built on a foundation of reckless capitalism, felony and greed, to be a curious location for a festival celebrating a group of artists who once represented the exact opposite valuesÂ

Vegas Beatles Auction to feature Stuart’s Art

An auction ofÂ Beatles Memorabilia to be held in Las Vegas on July 3Â in conjunction with the Beatles Fest will feature several examples of original bassist Stuart Sutcliffe’s art. The lots include Abstract Sculpture, Abstract Figures on Paper, Seagull Painting, Abstract Oil Paintings, Charcoal and Ink Artworks, Handwritten Song Lyrics and Set Lists, Handwritten Poems, Liverpool Art School Artworks, Pen and Ink Drawings (such as Stuart’s character study sketch of John shown below), Self Portrait Sketch, Watercolor Painting, and others.Â

Besides the Stuart Sutcliffe Collection, the auction will include over 350 lots of Beatles Autographs, concert posters and ephemera, records, toys and memorabilia. There will be items from $100.00 to $100,000. 00 so everyone can buy something for investment or for fun.

A full color catalog is available from ItsOnlyRockNRoll.com for $30.00 postpaid. There will be a live auction beginning at 2:00 p.m. Las Vegas time as part of The Fest For Beatles Fans. NY Metro Beatle Fest – This Weekend

Today sees the start of this year’s New York Fest For Beatles Fans. Among the top attractions at the weekend long celebration of all things Fab Four are:

Special guests – the original Quarrymen.
Terry Sylvester – former member of Cavern regulars, The Swinging Bluejeans and The Hollies.
Beatles recording engineer – Norm “Hurricane” Smith
Mark Hudson
Larry Kane
and a host of others.

Fests & Beatle Goodies

In today’s mail I recieved the latest catalog from Lapidos Productions, the organizers of the fantastic “Fest For Beatles Fans“ series of conventions.

This year there will be three Fests

New York (March 16th to 18th)
Las Vegas (July 1st to 3rd)
Chicago (August 3rd to 5th)

and we are planning on the Blog Me Do team putting in an appearence at at least one of them.Â

As well as all the details about the three conventions, the catalog is crammed with 24 pages of all sorts of Beatles goodies, from T-shirts to CDs, books to DVDs, signed memorabilia and art prints.Â The one item that really caught my attention was a Yellow Submarine decorated 80 disc CD home Juke Box at only $8,395 !!

Vegas Fest in ’07

Mark & Carol Lapidos are extremely proud to announce The Fest For Beatles Fans 2007-Las Vegas, Sunday-Tuesday, July 1-3, 2007, at The Mirage Hotel, the first Las Vegas Fest, ever, and their first Fest out West since 2000.

Of course, the Mirage is the site of the Beatles LOVE Cirque Du Soleil Show that has been wowing sold out audiences since it opened on June 30th, and is one that all Beatles Fans should see. And the Fest For Beatles Fans people have made it easier to make that happen.

In addition, this Fest will have a super line-up of special guests including 60′s legends, inlcluding:

PETER & GORDON – They appeared at the NY Metro & Chicago fests this year and were amazing

The PETE BEST Band – who also joined us this year, has never played in Las Vegas before

DENNY LAINE, DENNY SEIWELL & LAURENCE JUBER – a founding member of Wings is joining up with two other former band mates for what promises to be a great set of Wings classics

LIVERPOOL will also be making their Las Vegas Debut and in addition to their sensational concerts they will be back up for both Peter & Gordon and Wings.

Tickets for The Fest itself are not yet on sale. They are still arranging many of the details of the convention. Stay tuned for more exciting additions. Tickets will become available in January.

In this interview Pete reckons that Ringo benfited from Pete’s hard work – I don’t think so.

And if Ringo wasn’t at The Fest in person, he was definitely there in spirit.

The main Market Place at the recent Fest For Beatles Fans had almost everything that a Beatles fan could wish for, short of the Fab Four themselves, (Although one vendor was selling what they claimed to be actualÂ samples of the boys’ hair !).
