<p>The Beatles spend part of the day at the <strong>US Embassy</strong> in <strong>Paris</strong> to their visas and permits to visit and work in the United States.</p>
<p>In the US, The Beatles and Tony Sheridan album &#8220;<em>The Beatles With Tony Sheridan and Their Guests</em>&#8221; (MGM 4215) is released in the U.S. Tracks: &#8220;Why,&#8221; &#8220;Cry For a Shadow,&#8221; &#8220;My Bonnie,&#8221; &#8220;The Saints,&#8221; and other non-Beatles material and will spend 14 weeks on Billboard chart.</p>
<p>Back in Paris The Beatles perform two more shows at the <strong>Olympia Theatre</strong>.</p>

<p>The Beatles in Studio Two at  <strong>EMI&#8217;s Abbey Road Studios </strong>record songs for their second album. The Beatles work on their album songs in the morning (10:00 am-1:30 pm) and then again through the evening (5:00 pm-11:00 pm). </p>
<p>During the morning session, The Beatles record nine takes of<em> &#8220;Please Mr. Postman&#8221; </em>and 10 takes of <em>&#8220;It Won&#8217;t Be Long.&#8221;</em> In the evening session, George Martin records his piano overdub for <em>&#8220;Money&#8221; </em>(which had been recorded by The Beatles on July 18), then The Beatles tape 5 more takes of &#8220;<em>Till There Was You&#8221; </em>(adding to the takes from July 18), 8 takes of <em>&#8220;Roll Over Beethoven,&#8221; </em>13 more takes of <em>&#8220;It Won&#8217;t Be Long,&#8221;</em> and 13 takes of <em>&#8220;All My Loving.&#8221;</em></p>
<p> Between the sessions of this day, The Beatles head over to the  <strong>Playhouse Theatre </strong>in London to record six songs for the <strong>BBC radio</strong> program <em>&#8220;Saturday Club.&#8221; </em>The songs: <em>&#8220;Long Tall Sally,&#8221; &#8220;She Loves You,&#8221; &#8220;Glad All Over,&#8221; &#8220;Twist and Shout,&#8221; &#8220;You Really Got a Hold On Me,&#8221;</em> and <em>&#8220;I&#8217;ll Get You.&#8221; </em></p>
<p>While at the BBC, The Beatles also tape an interview for the BBC radio program <em>&#8220;Non Stop Pop,&#8221; </em>for its &#8220;Pop Chat&#8221; segment.</p>

<p>In Studio Two of Â <strong>EMI&#8217;s Abbey Road Studios, London</strong>. <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1202780664_2" style="cursor: hand; border-bottom: #0066cc 1px dashed">The Beatles</span> complete ten songs for their first album in just 585 minutes. While it was not unusual at the time for groups to record an album in a single day, it was unusual for one of this quality to be produced, especially one with so many original songs.Â </p>
<p>Â The recordings: &#8220;<em>There&#8217;s a Place&#8221;</em> (13 takes) &#8220;<em>Seventeen</em>&#8221; (later renamed &#8220;I Saw Her Standing There&#8221;) (12 takes); &#8220;<em>A Taste of Honey</em>&#8221; (7 takes); &#8220;<em>Do You Want to Know a Secret</em>&#8221; (8 takes); &#8220;<em>Misery</em>&#8221; (11 takes); &#8220;<em>Anna (Go To Him)&#8221;</em> (3 takes); &#8220;<em>Boys</em>&#8221; (1 take); &#8220;<em>Chains</em>&#8221; (4 takes); &#8220;<em>Baby It&#8217;s You</em>&#8221; (3 takes); and &#8220;<em>Twist and Shout</em>&#8221; (2 takes &#8211; the first take recorded was the one used on the album).</p>
<p><span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1202780664_3" style="cursor: hand; border-bottom: #0066cc 1px dashed">The Beatles</span> also recorded &#8220;<em>Hold Me Tight</em>&#8221; (13 takes) but were unhappy with the results and put it aside (it will be re-recorded later, on September 12, 1963, and included on <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1202780664_4" style="cursor: hand; border-bottom: #0066cc 1px dashed">The Beatles</span>&#8216; second album, &#8220;With the Beatles&#8221;).</p>
<p>The four songs from <span class="yshortcuts" id="lw_1202780664_5" style="cursor: hand; border-bottom: #0066cc 1px dashed">The Beatles</span>&#8216; first two singles make up the balance of the album, &#8220;<em>Love Me Do,&#8221; &#8220;P.S. I Love You,&#8221; &#8220;Please Please Me,</em>&#8221; and &#8220;<em>Ask Me Why</em>.&#8221; The album, &#8220;<strong><em>Please Please Me</em></strong>,&#8221; will be released on the Parlophone label on March 22.</p>

<p>The recordings are claimed to be the first made after Ringo Starr joined the band as drummer. <strong>Fuego Entertainment</strong> has entered a joint venture with British producer/promoter Jeffrey Collins to release the 15-song recording.</p>
