On the way to Croydon for an evening gig, The Beatles stop at the Playhouse Theatre in London to record an appearance on the BBC radio program “Saturday Club,” a special edition marking the show’s fifth anniversary. The Beatles record the songs “I Saw Her Standing There,” “Memphis,” “Happy Birthday Saturday Club” (arrangement credited to John Lennon), “I’ll Get You,” “She Loves You,” and “Lucille.” The show will be broadcast on October 5. The last three songs are included in the portion of the program that is broadcast overseas.
