The Beatles played a lunch time gig at The Cavern before travelling the 12 miles to the town of Widnes for the first of three Monday evening gigs at the Queen’s Hall on Victoria Road. The shows were promoted by Brian Epstein through NEMS. Each week The Beatles would be joined by different supporting acts. Joining them on the bill this evening were Rory Storm & The Hurricanes who were still a little antagonistic about what they saw as the “poaching” of their drummer, Ringo Starr, by The Beatles.
