BEATLES – Day By Day – 7/2/63

Tuesday, 2nd July, 1963

At Studio 5 of Maida Vale Studios in London, The Beatles tape program No.5 of the BBC radio show “Pop Go the Beatles.” After the success of the first 4 shows, the contract was extended for an additional 11 shows. For this show they record a cover version of Elvis Presley’s “That’s All Right (Mama).” Other songs recorded for the program were “There’s a Place,” Chuck Berry’s “Carol,” Arthur Alexander’s “Soldier of Love,” Carl Perkins’ “Lend Me Your Comb,” and the Jodimars’ “Clarabella.” Three additional songs were recorded but omitted from the broadcast tape, The Coasters’ “Three Cool Cats,” Chuck Berry’s “Sweet Little Sixteen,” and The Beatles’ own “Ask Me Why.” The Beatles guests for this program were Duffy Power & the Graham Bond Quartet. The show is scheduled to be broadcast on July 16.
