BEATLES – Day By Day – 4/6/62

Friday, 6th April, 1962

The Beatles played a lunch time gig at The Cavern before heading across the River Mersey to appear in another of Sam Leach’s promotions at The Tower Ballroom in New Brighton.

The Tower Ballroom event was billed as “A Night To Remember” running between 7:30pm and 1:00am. Headling the event “Back Again by Public Demand” were Emile Ford & The Checkmates, with second billing going to the (mis-spelled) BEETLES (sic). The poster informing people that this would be “Their farewell performance prior to a two month season in Germany.” (In fact they 3 more gigs to play before leaving for Hamburg.)

Also on the bill were “Merseysides’ Top 4 Groups“, Gerry & The Pacemakers, Howie Casey & The Seniors, The Big Three, and Rory Storm & The Hurricanes (featuring Ringo Starr on drums).
