BEATLES – Day By Day – 1/25/63

Friday, 25th January, 1963

The Beatles played at “The Greatest Teenage Dance,” in the Lancashire town of Darwen. The event, promoted by the local Baptist church youth club, was held in the town’s Co-operative Hall on Market Street. Admission was by advance ticket purchase only, at the cost of 6/- (6 shillings). The evening’s activities were scheduled to run from 7:30 to 11:30pm and as well as The Beatles the crowd were entertained by The Electones, The Mike Taylor Combo, and The Mustangs.

The same evening The Beatles could be heard on two radio stations.

At 5:00pm the BBC Light Programme broadcast their January 16th recording for Here We Go. At 10:00 pm Radio Luxembourg broadcast their appearence on The Friday Spectacular that had been recorded the previous Monday.

On this day the contract giving Vee-Jay Records distribution rights for Beatles recordings in the US came into effect.
