BEATLES – Day By Day – 10/26/62

Friday, 26th October, 1962

At 5:00pm the BBC brodcast the episode of Here We Go recorded the day before in Manchester. In an unprecedented move the three Beatles songs were broadcast back-to-back in one continous block in the middle of the programme.

Later in the evening The Beatles made their debut in the town of Preston about 30 miles north of Liverpool. They appeared as part of the “1962 Rock & Beat Spectacular” at the Public Hall on Lune Street. The event was promoted by the Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Football Club and was scheduled to feature “Non-Stop Dancing” from 8:00pm to 2:00am. Tickets were priced at 6/- (6 shillings) each.

The Beatles were listed third on the bill below singer Mike Berry and his sometimes backing group, The Outlaws. However they did rate higher than The Syd Munston Orchestra.

At the end of its third week on the UK charts, Love Me Do had climbed another 5 spots to #41
