Beatlemania is born!!
The Beatles appear on ATV’s “Sunday Night at the London Palladium,” the Uk’s most popular TV show at the the time with an estimated audience of 15 million. The Fab Four top the bill and perform “From Me to You,” “I’ll Get You,” “She Loves You,” and “Twist and Shout.” At one point John is so exasperated by the screaming fans that he yells at them to “Shut Up!”, which gets him a round of applause from the adults in the audience.
The press are amazed by the anticipation and reaction of the Beatles fans, both in and around the theater, coining the phrase “Beatlemania” to describe the commotion.
