Customer Rating: Summary: Amazing.... Comment: This album is absolutely wonderful..."This Never Happened to me before", "How Kind of you" and "Follow Me" are my favorites on this album. It quite simply is my favorite album of his since Wings and his greatest hits. It is a must if you are a fan of McCartney.
Customer Rating: Summary: McCartney is as great as ever Comment: I failed to get this CD when it first came out and I"m sorry I did. I should not have doubted that it would be just as great as his other CD's. This is one for my collection.
Customer Rating: Summary: World-weary Optimism Comment: This album was made by someone who has experienced a lot of life: you can hear the world-weariness in Paul's voice, lyrics, and music. Yet, there's a very pleasing optimism throughout the album. The melodies perfectly complement the mature, reflective lyrics. I've listened to this album many times on my way to work in the Seattle winter as the sky changes from black to gray, and there are few albums I've enjoyed more. It's Paul's best work since Tug of War, maybe even since Band on the Run.
It makes me angry to read the one-star reviews given to this album. I guess there's no accounting for taste. Then again, I'm sure I would hate some of the albums those folks give five stars to. To each his own.
Customer Rating: Summary: All Creation, no Chaos Comment: 2005 was a tumultous and hellish year for me, so that's one reason I missed this McCartney gem, so even though it's now 3 years old, it's brand new to me...and what a gem it is!!!! (And I'm still wearing out "Memory Almost Full"!) Just when I think McCartney cannot keep producing such great music over and over, he continuosly keeps on amazing me. It seems that this decade of the 2000s has been one of his best as a solo artist. His 1980s releases, on the other hand, seemed to have been his weakest, with the exception of the second half of 1982's "Tug of War" and all of 1989's "Flowers in the Dirt." Favorite tunes on "Chaos and Creation in the Back Yard" for me include "Riding to Vanity Fair" (the understated bitter-tinged sarcasm of the lyrics is brilliant), "Jenny Wren," "Friends to Go," "Too Much Rain," "This Never Happened Before," and "Anyway." The instrumental coda at the very end is also a great way to conclude a fine album. The man seems to have a bottomless well of fresh creativity, yet always with his signature sound. I look forward to each new release. Amazing that in such a LONG career, he can still produce music that isn't constant rehashes of past successes. Hats off to you, Sir Paul!
Customer Rating: Summary: In awe as usual with his work!! Comment: Mr. McCartney never ceases to amaze me, he has some great music in this CD. i thoroughly recommend it!
