BEATLES Day By Day – 2/12/61

Sunday 12th February, 1961

The Beatles performed at the Casbah Coffee Club at 8 Hymans Green in  West Derby, Liverpool.

John, Paul and George had performed at the Casbah back in 1959, when, along with Ken Brown, they were the club’s first resident band under the name The Quarry Men. After a falling out over fees they left swearing never to play the venue again. However once Pete Best was on board things changed, as the Casbah was owned and operated by Pete’s mother, Mona Best, who at this point saw her-self as the de-facto manager of “Pete’s band.”

The story of The Casbah is chronicled in Pete and Roag Best’s book “The Beatles: The True Beginnings.”
